How charges work
Understand which actions create usage and how to verify charges.
Actions that create usage
- Text generation
- Sending messages, continuing, regenerating, generating after message edits, and creator playtest generation all create usage.
- Image generation
- AI image generation, AI image edits, and generating again each create new usage.
- Actions without generation
- Browsing existing content, editing World configuration, and uploading local images do not themselves incur AI generation charges.
What affects text charges
Model input includes World and Character configuration, history, and the current situation, as well as the latest message. Processing may also include state updates, so visible response length alone does not determine cost.
The model, reasoning effort, and actual processing volume affect charges. The same action can cost different amounts with different models.
What affects image charges
Image charges depend on the model, image count, and its billing method. Image specifications and reference images can also affect usage, so image count alone is not enough to compare every model.
Stopped or failed requests and settlement
Stopping generation does not undo usage already incurred. Available actual usage is used for settlement; incomplete reports may require an estimate based on input and received output, or review.
Failed generation may still have incurred some usage. Check the settled usage record for the final assessed, collected, and outstanding amounts.
